The shoulder joint comprises of several joints that combine with tendons and muscles to allow a wide range of motion in the arm — from scratching your back to throwing the perfect pitch. The combined mechanics of this joint and muscles provide for and control the mobility of the upper extremity.

Your shoulder is made up of three bones: your upper arm bone (humerus), your shoulder blade (scapula), and your collarbone (clavicle).

The head of your upper arm bone fits into a rounded socket in your shoulder blade. This socket is called the glenoid. A combination of muscles and tendons keeps your arm bone centered in your shoulder socket. These tissues are called the rotator cuff. They cover the head of your upper arm bone and attach it to your shoulder blade.

Shoulder dysfunction may lead to significant impairment of everyday quality of life.

Causes of shoulder pain include

  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Rotator cuff strain/tear
  • Joint stiffness
  • Joint instability
  • Bursitis
  • Impingements
  • Subluxations/Dislocations
  • Fractures
  • Arthritis of the neck or shoulder

At Asiya we do a thorough biomechanical assessment of the shoulder to help us understand shoulder diagnosis more better.

Examination includes a systematic evaluation of your whole-body posture and its influence on the shoulder mechanics, local muscle biomechanics of the shoulder and faulty movement patterns at the shoulder.

Based on the systematic examination we design a custom-made exercise programme for each patient differently as shoulder mechanics are different in each individual.

Also, for pain management we use a lot of manual techniques for the shoulder including of:

  • Manual therapy
